Get More with Less – 3 Keys to Simplicity
If you want success, you must first clean out the clutter. It’s hard to stay focused on the finish line when you’re distracted by things on the sidelines. We tend to overthink and make things complex when the solution is simple.
1. Cut the Noise
Where do you waste time? Instead of doing work, do you sit on Facebook? Do you tell yourself you’ll read one more tweet before getting to that project? Cut these things out of your life. They do nothing but increase how long it’s going to take you to succeed. Instead of reading mindless social media posts, dedicate that chunk of time to practicing something that will add to your skills.
2. Say “No”
One of the hardest lessons most of us can learn is how to say “no”. It’s a negative word, after all, and we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. However, the truth is you need to deny certain things in order to make more time for activities and event that actually matter. Don’t agree to everything and only give a half-hearted performance. Say no to most things so you can give your all to a few.
3. Do It
You don’t need a fancy microphone to begin recording the podcast idea you have swimming in your head. You don’t need the best suit to succeed in business. These are superfluous items we tell ourselves we need that only end up holding us back.
Do what you can with what you have. Success will follow.
